Bozeman is a mecca for winter sports enthusiasts. We are blessed with abundant snowfall and a wide variety of ski terrain. Whether it’s world class skate skiing, the biggest downhill in America or touring by geysers and bison you can ski it here. Want to track ski on your lunch break? The Bridger Ski Foundation(BSF) maintains 40 k of skate and classic trails in or near town. Those up Bozeman Creek are dog friendly. Another 40 plus k of classic trails are groomed in Hyalite canyon by the Forest Service. Is backcountry skiing your preference? There are dozens of trailheads within an hours drive of Bozeman. For gentler terrain try Bracket Creek, Bear Canyon or Moser Creek. More challenging is South Cottonwood, Emerald Lake or Chestnut Mt. Like it steep and deep? Try earning your turns on Mt Ellis, Mt Blackmore or Sacajewea Peak. Want to ski with your kids? Laps at Lindley or Bridger Creek with stops at the sledding hill are good bets. A picnic ski on Little Ellis meadows is always fun or try the lower Blackmore loops with stops to build forts and fairy houses. World class trails and grooming await you at Bohart Ranch, the site of NCAA competitions. At Lone Mountain Ranch you can extend your ski with a gourmet meal and night in luxurious accomodations. Try Homestake Lodge for some groomed tracks and soup on the continental divide. For a truly unique ski experience take a snowcoach into Old Faithful and ski amongst the geysers or book a night in a Forest Service cabin . It’s like snow camping with a wood stove and a bed. O Yeah, there is also some awesome downhill skiing at Bridger Bowl, Big Sky and Moonlight Basin.
